Sheltering under His Wings with Thankfulness PS91

 

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High

Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,

My God, in whom I trust!”

Ps 91: 1-2

Good morning Abba, Good morning Jesus, Good morning Holy Spirit,

This year has been a year filled with struggles, disillusions, heart-ache, and extreme daily pressures. When I take time to "sit" with you, my Lord, your peace that surpasses my oppression always provides the very breath of Heaven to surround me, as if... a shawl is placed around me... and I can breathe in Your presence.

My Lord, my Shepherd, I know that when apart from You... I get distracted... I tend to bound in all directions... I get snared by others... I even get so close to the edge that You must come and scoop me up into Your protective arms. At those times, my Lord, I can do nothing of lasting value for You. This Thanksgiving... Lord Jesus, extend Your had of renewal upon me and mine, upon Your faithful, and upon our nation... our world. Open our eyes to see our reliance with thankfulness for Your great Passion. Guide us to the end of self and lead us into Your Will, take the reins of our lives for You alone created us. Amen---Amen---Hallelujah 

"The Lord is close to those whose hearts are breaking;

He rescues those who are humbly sorry for their sins."

Checking Your Roots: Jeremiah 17:7-8

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,

whose confidence is in him.

They will be like a tree planted by the water

that sends out its roots by the stream.

It does not fear when heat comes;

its leaves are always green.

It has no worries in a year of drought

and never fails to bear fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8

This season has been such a time of peace and joy. The loving comfort of knowing that all truths about the health of my roots has been lovingly revealed, nurtured, and given a revitalizing renewal. There has been a wealth of joy once His pruning began. The elimination of the branches which were creating diseased thoughts (shame is a deceptive evil spirit). His tender attention and life giving words refreshed my mind, spirit, and soul. Oh what joy is found under His watch!

Being taught "how-to" nourish my foundational roots is giving such energy. An energy in which the Holy Spirit is guiding the works of my hands. This summer has been the least busy, yet the most focused. Spending my days in scripture, slowing down and relishing the ever changing moments of Gabriel Michael, and just letting my days unfold has provided an overflow of peace and... oh, such delight.

As this season comes to a close, I can only hope for His continued nourishment. Allowing me to continue to grow stronger, more gracious, gentler in what I say and do.

Dear Abba, Lord Jesus, and Holy Spirit... guide me and strengthen me so I bring glory to You! For I trust in you. For it is written in your promises:

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High

shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the LORD,

He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,

and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with his feathers,

and under his wings shalt thou trust:

his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night;

nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness;

nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

He shall call upon me,

and I will answer him:

I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Trust Him to Deliver You

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.... There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. – Psalm 91:7,10

Naturally speaking, this is a terrifying world we’re living in today. A world that staggers from one disaster to another. Almost daily we hear about wars, about the dangers of nuclear weapons and chemical warfare, about oil spills and earthquakes and floods, about diseases on the rise and crime sweeping through our cities. But in the midst of it all, God is promising to be a refuge and a fortress to those who will trust and dwell in Him. “But, Gloria,” you might say, “He made that promise thousands of years ago when things weren’t in as desperate shape as they are today!” That may be so, but you know what? That promise is right up-to-date. It was made for our generation. Just think about it. Back when Psalm 91 was written, man hadn’t even invented weapons that could destroy 10,000 people at once. We’re the generation that did that. So when He said, “No evil will befall you,” He was including us. No evil will befall you. My, what a statement! You need to catch hold of it and believe it today. Believe that God wants to be God in your life. He wants to be your protection. He wants to be your security. He wants to be the first Name you call when trouble comes your way. He wants to be the One you trust in and look to, to keep you safe. And if you’ll do that, He’ll never, never let you down. He can handle all the dangers that surround you. I don’t care how bad they are, He can handle them! He proved that with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They were bound and thrown into a fiery furnace that was so hot that the men who threw them in were killed by the heat. Now you can’t get in any more trouble than that. But God brought them through and when they came out, they didn’t even smell like smoke. Hallelujah! So, no matter how terrifying things around you seem to get, trust God. He’ll always be faithful. He’ll never be out doing something else when you need help. He’ll be right there to deliver you from any problem, any catastrophe, any kind of devastation. Let Him prove in your life what He proved in the lives of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego: No other can deliver like He can!

Good morning America, Happy Independence Day!

Many devotionals are made readied for this day in our history.  They look for the right scripture.  They ponder and write words that they hope will provide inspiration to all.  That desire, all hope for all in our nation, is how we became an Independent Republic with a governing democracy.

"Of the fifty-six men who signed this document, the final to pass away was Charles Carroll, who died at the age of 95. Before his passing, New York City asked him to inscribe his final thoughts on a copy of the Declaration. On it he wrote that he was "Grateful to Almighty God for the blessings which, through Jesus Christ Our Lord, He has conferred on my beloved country in her emancipation." Significantly, this Founding Father, in looking back over what had occurred as a result of the Declaration, wanted to specifically thank Jesus for what had happened with America." David Barton

"The two signers of the Declaration to precede Charles Carroll in death were John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Both had been on the committee to draft the Declaration, and both died on the 50th anniversary of that document - on July 4, 1826." David Barton

Psalm 91 is a promise of Divine protection.  It is sometimes known as the Soldier's Psalm.  General Washington prayed it, quoted it, and spoke it over his command every day. "He was the recipient, a witness, to God's supernatural protection so much so that he became known as the "soldier who could not die."  The Founder's Bible: The Origin of the Dream of Freedom, David Barton

Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.

Today we enjoy the abundant life that our Founding Fathers and every soldier for the last 238 years stood for.  Our Lord Jesus, also suffered and stood on the Word of God.  Jesus promised:

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  

I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

John 10:10

The Bible teaches that God gives us abundant mercy (Numbers 14:18), abundant provision (2 Chronicles 11:23), abundant kindness (Nehemiah 9:17), abundant pardon (Isaiah 55:7) and abundant peace (Psalm 37:11). Journey: Your Daily Adventure with God by David Jeremiah

In today's world, truth is a mask for hidden agendas and personal gain.  Our National independence can only be safe-guarded by our recognition and acceptance of our spiritual dependence... pray often!  Standing united with God's truth is our calling for our children, family, friends, and co-workers.  You have heard the "Freedom is not Free," so what can we do to stay free... we pray, we stand, and remain in His word.

I am the vine, you are the branches.

 He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit;

 for without Me you can do nothing.

John 15:5

Psalm 91: Under His Shadow

Good morning Abba, Good morning Jesus, Good morning Holy Spirit,

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 91: 1

Finding consolation, locating a place of protection, or seeking refuge... the shadow of God is a constant abiding place.  In those moments when your spirit and heart feel so extremely heavy, I have found safety every time I read this passage aloud (aloud = spirit connected + mind controlled = power over fear).

I once was broken.... I once was lost... I once was so confused... And then, I was guided to the Word of God.  Once I placed His word first in the morning and last before I rest, my journey became focused.  I discovered peace, joy, and most of all a place of refuge.

Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice.

Psalm 63:7

Asking Jesus to be your Lord, your Savior, your Shepherd means that you have traded your will in this life for His will... His love... His forgiving Grace... His mercy... His favor... His prosperity... His Joy... His healing... and His protection!  He is diligent in His watch over you, your loved ones, your family, friends and coworkers.  Within the pages of my Bible (Master's Healing Presence Bible, KJV, Benny Hinn) there exists every direction I will ever need for my journey here on earth until I return home when I will hear Him say: Welcome Home!  "Wherever we go, whatever we suffer, whatever our difficulties, temptations, trials, or perplexities may be... we are always under the tenderest care of our Guardian (BH)"

Psalm 90: 9

The anointing on you is the vehicle that transports you in your life = faithfulness; keeps you protected; and will always gets stronger for His calling and service.  The anointing in you is seasonal = it stays strong as long as you stay in His word daily; practicing His principles for life.  Because I walk as a wife, mother, granny, sister, cousin, aunt, friend, and teacher... I read aloud Ps 90:9-Ps 92:15.

"We can hide away near His heart, beneath His wings.. 

press closely to the loving heart of our Lord, 

hide ourselves entirely beneath His wings!"
